The Instagram section, today and after

The first two frames below show the section with your six most recent photos so you can compare them directly. The top one is how it works on your homepage today, and the second is the lighter version. The third frame shows one more option, where the feed that updates itself can keep living if you want to keep it.

"Lighter" does not mean a new look. It changes what loads invisibly behind the photos, not how the section appears on the page.

The same moving feed you have now, added at the very bottom of that page, after all your photos. It keeps updating itself every time you post, and guests browsing your photos see your latest trips.

What stays the same. The navy band, its place on the homepage, and your photos. A visitor scrolling past would not notice anything happened.

What actually changes. I tested your live homepage today with Google's speed tool on a simulated phone connection. As it is now, the page downloads about 18 MB per visit, and the Instagram strip is 8 to 14 MB of that, video files included, roughly half of everything the page carries. I then ran the same test with the Instagram feed switched off, and the page dropped to about 8 MB, so with your six photos added back the lighter homepage should come in around 9 MB. In that same test, how quickly the page visually fills in on a phone improved from about 18 seconds to 9.

About the photos updating. The six homepage photos no longer change by themselves when you post. Swapping in newer ones takes about a minute in the editor, and I will leave you simple instructions. And if you like having a feed that updates itself, it does not have to disappear. The bottom frame above shows it living on your Photos page instead, at no extra charge. It keeps updating on its own there, and the strip stops being one of the things slowing guests down on the way to your inquiry form. Between this and the video work already in your plan, the two heaviest things on your homepage are both being dealt with, and the final numbers get measured in front of you.

Method, for the record. Google Lighthouse 12, phone simulation, median of five runs per version on 2026-08-20. Today's figures are measured on your live homepage as it is. The after figures are an estimate built from the same page tested with the Instagram feed switched off, plus the weight of the six photos. The true before and after is measured again on the finished page at the end of the project, in front of you, so none of these numbers is taken on faith.
